"See & Treat" Clinic

COUNTRY PATIENTS

Hamilton House Plastic Surgery has been set up as a “See and Treat” clinic for patients from the country suffering from malignant skin cancer lesions.

Dr Richard Hamilton, one of Adelaide’s most experienced plastic surgeons has been providing skin cancer treatment service to country patients for more than 20 years.

He has recognised the difficulty and inconvenience that country patients and their families experience in having to travel a long distance from their home to Adelaide for a consultation and then having to return again for a subsequent appointment for surgery. This can amount to many many hours of travel back and forth, at great inconvenience and additional cost for fuel and possibly accommodation. It can become pretty wearying and it places country patients at a great disadvantage compared to city patients in terms of receiving appropriate early treatment for malignant skin lesions.

Where possible and with sufficient information from referring general practitioners, eg details on blood thinners which may have to be stopped, receipt of digital images of lesions of concern etc., arrangements can be made to carry out the consultation and surgery at Hamilton House in the one visit at our See and Treat Clinic. This can save a lot of extra travel, time, cost and stress. We call this our “See and Treat” clinic.

Requirements

For country patients please let the reception staff at Hamilton House tel 08 8272 6666 know that you are from the country or a regional area, and we will do very best to accommodate your wishes.

For doctors, please fax through a detailed referral letter with a full medical history and a medication list especially including any blood thinners, to Hamilton House at fax 08 8373 3853. Digital images may be valuable and these can be emailed to admin@hamiltonhouse.com.au. This will assist greatly in scheduling treatment.

COVID-19 Restrictions and Essential Travel

For patients travelling from interstate, eg Broken Hill, Mildura, Hamilton Vic, or Alice Springs and Darwin in the Northern Territory, there is provision in the SA Government Regulations to allow you to travel to Adelaide as you are classified as an “Essential Traveller”. You will need a letter from your GP (included in the referral letter) or a letter from us at Hamilton House Plastic Surgery, explaining that you are in need of urgent or essential medical treatment and that you are an “Essential Traveller”.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact Reception at Hamilton House on 08 8272 6666.

PATIENTS LIVING IN AGED CARE FACILITIES

Hamilton House Skin Cancer Surgery has been set up as a “See and Treat” clinic for patients living in a nursing home or aged care facility suffering from malignant skin cancer lesions.

Dr Hamilton has recognised the difficulty and risk of falls to some patients who are elderly and require additional support. To assist, we can provide treatment on the same day as the initial consultation, so that the patient and their carer do not need to return again for a subsequent appointment for surgery.
